CUYAHOGA COUNTY -- The last of the property tax bills were mailed out in Cuyahoga County Friday.
The mailings are a couple of weeks later than usual, according to interim treasurer Mark Parks.
The deadline to pay is Jan. 24, 2013, but about 10 percent of taxpayers like to pay by the end of 2012.
The delay means people who wish to pay their property taxes by Dec. 31 (so they can write off the payments on their 2012 federal income tax returns) will have just a small window to pay by the end of the year.
Parks says 100,000 bills were mailed Monday, December 24.
73,000 were mailed Dec. 27, and the remainder on Friday Dec. 28.
The interim treasurer cites a delay at the state level as the cause for Cuyahoga County's late mailings.
There are several ways to pay, including online and by phone.
The Cuyahoga County Administration Building and the cashier's desk will be open on New Year's Eve Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for those who wish to pay in person.
