CLEVELAND -- The new leader of Ohio's largest county is questioning a multimillion dollar furniture bill for the new county juvenile court building in Cleveland.
Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald tells The Plain Dealer he hasn't seen prices so high since "Antiques Roadshow."
Records obtained by the newspaper indicate the furnishings have a price tag of $4.2 million, including $23,000 for a custom conference table and $1,000 each for desk chairs.
The county inspector has been asked to investigate.
Fitzgerald was elected in November as the county's first executive, replacing three commissioners as part of a county government overhaul. Juvenile Court officials say the former county commissioners are responsible for the furniture. However, the former county administrator says the stuff was picked out by the court.
