BEDFORD HEIGHTS -- Jimmy Dimora was a very popular mayor in Bedford Heights. He was so popular that the city's community/recreation center now bears his name.
But that may soon change.
Mayor Fletcher Berger told WKYC's Tom Beres, "I do not want a convicted felon's name on our community center."
Earlier, despite some suggestions of removing it, Berger said it would not be right to remove the name until there was evidence and a decision about wrongdoing.
Friday's verdict obviously delivered that.
Berger said he hopes the necessary legislation to remove the name and change it to Bedford Heights Community Center comes from City Council.
If it's not forthcoming , he said he would take a leadership role to remove Dimora's name from the building.
