MANSFIELD -- Police are investigating the death of a 24-year-old woman killed insider her home at 37 Reba Avenue.
When police arrived to the scene they found Rachel Marie Kiser, dead.
Our sister paper the Mansfield News Journal is reporting Kiser was shot in the face with what appeared to be a .22-caliber rifle.
The weapon has been recovered by police.
Detectives preliminary investigation lead police to Kiser's estranged boyfriend Brian Christopher Emrath 29, who lived with the victim.
Police took Emrath into custody where he is being held at the Richland County Sheriffs Department pending charges.
The Mansfield Journal is reporting Emrath has had encounters with the law before. According to court records, Emrath has been charged with Disorderly Conduct and OVI while under suspension last September.
This homicide is still under investigation.
