CLEVELAND -- A Cleveland Board of Education police car was in an accident on Cleveland's east side early Tuesday morning.

The officer driving the car was checked out at the scene by EMS, but did not have any apparent injuries.

The driver swerved out of the way of a deer while headed east on Harvard Avenue, Cleveland Police said.

He lost control of the car and hit one side of the car on a utility pole, sliding into a fence on the other side. The squad car came to a stop between the utility pole and fence near E. 110th Street.

Reports at the scene say the tires on the car had very little tread.
