NORTON -- Police here tell Channel 3 that a fatal car accident has Silver Creek Metro Park closed, between Hametown Road and Medina Line Road.
A park ranger confirmed earlier that a car went into Silver Creek.
The Summit County Medical Examiner has confirmed that one person, a woman, has died after a car plunged into Silver Creek. A member of the woman's family asked the media not to release her name at this time.
Channel 3 watched as a black Ford Mustang was taken on a flatbed from the park.
In a statement released just before 6 p.m., the Medical Examiner said that, at about 1:32 pm, the Norton Fire and Police Department personnel were called to the Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton for a vehicle that had gone into the lake.
Dive team members located the vehicle and removed a woman from inside the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:43 pm.
The Barberton and Norton Police Departments, as well as the Norton Fire Department, are involved in the incident.
