CLEVELAND -- The federal government has responded to a request by Michael Gabor to be released pending his sentencing in July.

Gabor faces a lengthy prison sentence and restitution following his March conviction alongside co-defendant, former Cuyahoga County Commissioner, Jimmy Dimora.

The government in its brief noted that Gabor hadn't asked for a pre-sentencing release until the government outlined in early May the extensive potential sentence he could face if given the maximum including more than 30 years in prison and restitution between $120,000 and $400,000.

Because the government views Gabor as a flight risk, it says it does not believe the matter merits a hearing and Gabor should remain in custody.

Dimora has made two motions to be released prior to his sentencing in July and has been denied twice.
