MENTOR -- Mentor Police meet man who wanted to report a burglary. Moments later, he shot himself.
Mentor Police received a 911 call Tuesday shortly after 5:30 p.m. from a man who wanted to report a burglary.
The man asked police to meet him at Krueger Park on Chillicothe Road.
When police arrived, they found the man standing by a blue pick-up truck. He took a few steps backwards, dropped to his knees, produced a gun, and shot himself in the head.
No threats were made to the officers or to the one other person in the park at the time of the shooting. Mentor Police did not fire any shots.
The Mentor Fire Department responded and took the man to Tri-Point Hospital where he was taken by LifeFlight to Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center, where he's currently in critical condition.
The investigation surrounding this incident continues.
