Cleveland: Man shot in chest dies, suspect sought

CLEVELAND -- A 20-year-old man has died after he was shot in the chest Friday night.

Authorities say they responded to the 13000 block of Agrus Avenue around 10:51 p.m. where they found the victim. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as Darius Lewis.

According to police, preliminary investigation reveals that the victim was standing in the 13400 block of Kelso Avenue with a group of people when a white Buick Century with the license plate FKD9646 stopped in front of them. A male, who reportedly knew the victim, got out of the vehicle and opened fire. As the victim fled, the suspect continued to shoot at him, police said.

The victim then collapsed on Argus Avenue and the yet-to-be-identified suspect fled the scene in the Buick.

The Cleveland Division of Police Homicide is investigating the incident.
