-- Massillon Washington senior quarterback Kyle Kempt tweeted on Dec. 17 that he has decommitted to signing a national letter of intent with the University of Cincinnati in February.
-- Walsh Jesuit junior baseball standout Nate Romans recently orally committed to attend Ohio State University in fall 2014 and to join the Buckeyes' baseball program.
-- Copley senior football player Aregeros Turner recently decommitted to signing a national letter of intent with the University of Cincinnati in February.
-- Chagrin Falls junior Tyler O'Brien recently orally committed to attend Sacred Heart University in fall 2014 and to join the Connecticut school's lacrosse program.
-- Hudson junior Bo Lori recently orally committed to attend Lehigh University in fall 2014 and to join the Mountain Hawks' lacrosse program.
-- Medina Highland senior softball player Taylor MacWhade recently signed a binding national letter of intent with Lake Erie College, agreeing to attend the school in the fall and to join its softball program.
-- Southwestern Conference commissioner Michael McCarthy recently announced that the league's membership has voted to welcome Avon as a full conference member at the start of the 2015-16 school year. The Eagles are currently members of the West Shore Conference.
-- Four-time Minerva cross country state tournament qualifier Kaele Lightfoot recently orally committed to continue her academic and running career at the University of Cincinnati in the fall.
-- The Toledo St. John's Jesuit ice hockey team defeated St. Ignatius 2-0 in the championship game of the Padua Christmas Tournament at Strongsville's Iceland USA on Dec. 23.
-- The Massillon Perry wrestling team placed third as a team at the 102-squad Beast of the East Wrestling Tournament in Newark, Del. Brecksville-Broadview Heights placed fourth. Brecksville's Austin Assad finished runner-up in the 106-pound weight class while bother Aaron Assad did the same in the 113-pound weight class. Fellow Bee Quinton Hiles finished runner-up in the 170-pound weight class. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy's Nathan Tomasello won the 120-pound weight class.
