LAKE COUNTY -- A Geneva man was charged with felony possession of marijuana and trafficking in marijuana following a routine traffic stop Dec. 28.
Ohio Highway Patrol deputies arrested and charged Brian L. Walters, 41, of Geneva.
Deputies stopped a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta for a marked lanes violation on State Route 528 southbound at 11:08 a.m. Dec. 28.
Deputies said "criminal indicators were observed" and then an Ashtabula County Sheriff's drug-sniffing K-9 alerted to the Jetta.
There was a garbage bag containing 15 Ziploc bags of marijuana in the vehicle's trunk.
Deputies seized 15 pounds of marijuana, worth nearly $35,000.
Walters was brought to the Lake County Jail and charged with possession of marijuana and trafficking in marijuana, both third-degree felonies.
If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.
