Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - United States women's national team goalkeeper
Hope Solo will miss next month's Algarve Cup because of a wrist injury which
may require surgery.
Solo has been playing with damaged ligaments in her right wrist, and she has
been advised to undergo treatment by the team's medical staff ahead of
qualifying for the 2015 World Cup, which begins next year.
With Solo out, Nicole Barnhart, Ashlyn Harris and Jill Loyden will be the
three goalkeepers on the American roster for the competition, which begins on
March 6 for the U.S. against Iceland.
