NEW FRANKLIN -- A 20-year-old man died in a crash early Friday morning in which his vehicle went airborne and crashed into a tree along Cleveland-Massillon Road near Luna Lake Drive.
Troopers say Aaron Friend of Clinton was driving southbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control, went off the right side of the road and struck a culvert around 1:40 a.m. His vehicle then became airborne and hit a tree.
Friend was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
