CLEVELAND -- Ohio's largest county wants to sell the building housing its main offices, as part of a consolidation plan.

Cuyahoga County now owns or leases 66 buildings. A study last week recommended that the county eliminate 22 buildings to save $91 million.

County Executive Ed FitzGerald says selling the County Administration Building in downtown Cleveland and moving those offices and others into a larger, consolidated complex would make the county more efficient and customer-friendly.

FitzGerald tells The Plain Dealer that developers have expressed interest in the 57-year-old administration building. The property also could be used for expansion of the new medical mart and convention center being built next-door.
