AKRON -- Names of possible witnesses were read before the jury pool in the trial of Jimmy Dimora and Michael Gabor.
Wednesday morning, U.S. District Court Judge Sara Lioi began the first round of jury selection in Dimora's bribery and racketeering trial, along with co-defendant Gabor.
Lioi said that 12 jurors and 6 alternates will be selected.
The first round has 44 potential jurors who were asked, among other things, if they knew anyone from a list of 119 potential witnesses.
The list included many people who have been mentioned in indictments, some that have been mentioned only by descriptions in indictments and others who have been involved in Cuyahoga County Democratic Party politics.
Among the names of potential witnesses were: Frank Russo, Sam Alai, Harlan Diamond, Cuyahoga County Board of Elections Executive Director Jane Platten, former (now visiting) Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Tom Pokorny, Bedford Municipal Court Clerk of Courts William Donley, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Nancy McDonnell, Judge June Rose Galvin, Andrew Miszak, former Euclid Mayor Paul Oyaski, and Tom Cornhoff.
