COLUMBUS -- Ohio Gov. John Kasich has refused to spare a condemned inmate scheduled to die next week for stabbing a teen to death in a 1985 farmhouse robbery.

The decision follows a federal judge's decision last week approving of changes to Ohio's lethal injection policies and allowing the execution to proceed.

If executed, 49-year-old Mark Wiles would be the first Ohio inmate put to death in six months following delays stemming from questions about injection procedures.

Wiles is scheduled to die April 18 for killing 15-year-old Mark Klima, the son of Wiles' employers, in a Portage County farmhouse.
