CLEVELAND -- A 19-year-old man was killed in a shooting on the city's east side Sunday afternoon.
Police received a call for shots fired just after 1:00 p.m. The shooting occurred near East 93rd Street and Empire Avenue.
When police arrived on scene, they were unable to locate the shooting victim, later identified as Derrick Henderson of Cleveland.
Police later received a call for an accident involving two vehicles and a utility pole. The accident was near 12300 Chesterfield Avenue, in the same general area as the shooting.
The crash involved a minivan and a car.
The driver of the minivan was attempting to help the Henderson who had been shot in the neck. The accident occurred while they were headed to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
The drivers of the two vehicles were evaluated by EMS workers.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Officer's is expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
