LOS ANGELES -- The film industry is reporting a record year for 2012 with Hollywood taking in $10.8 billion.
And according to box-office tracker Hollywood.com, the number of tickets sold went up for the first time in three years.
The year was led by a pair of superhero sagas with Disney's "The Avengers" (some of which was filmed in Cleveland) taking in $623 million domestically and the Warner Bros. Batman finale "The Dark Knight Rises" amassing $448 million in domestic ticket sales.
