Fargo, ND (Sports Network) - Former Northern Iowa defensive back Andre Martin
is transferring to FCS national champion North Dakota State, one of the
Panthers' rivals in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
NDSU head coach Craig Bohl, whose team won the FCS national title this past
season, told The Forum on Tuesday that the 6-foot-1, 203-pound Martin will join
his program for his final season after graduating from Northern Iowa this
spring.
Martin, who led UNI with five interceptions two years ago, follows his former
defensive coordinator and secondary coach, Chris Klieman, who left UNI for NDSU
last year. Klieman was promoted by Bohl to defensive coordinator this year.
NDSU and UNI shared the MVFC championship last season.
NDSU also has brought in two recent junior-college transfers, linebacker John
Tauteoli from Mt. San Antonio College (Calif.) and defensive end Jeremy Gordon
from North Dakota State College of Science.
