Oxford, MS (Sports Network) - Led by 24 points from Marshall Henderson, the
Ole Miss Rebels downed the Alabama Crimson Tide, 87-83, in a SEC showdown at
Tad Smith Coliseum.
For the Rebels (22-8, 11-6 SEC), LaDarius White added 17 points, Jarvis
Summers finished with 14 points and Derrick Millinghaus chipped in with 11
points.
Trevor Lacey finished with 19 points to lead the Crimson Tide (19-11, 11-6),
while Nick Jacobs scored 18 points, Trevor Releford finished with 16 points
and Rodney Cooper added 12 points.
Ole Miss ran out to a big lead in the first half, going into the locker room
with a 37-25 advantage. The Rebels shot 50 percent from the field and 5-of-11
from 3-point range in the half. Alabama made just 38.5 percent of their field
goal tries in the half and 3-of-6 from 3-point distance.
After intermission, the Rebels continued to knock down their shots, connecting
on 63.2 of their field goal tries. The Crimson Tide attempted their comeback
by draining 9-of-15 from beyond the arc, part of a 47.5 percent shooting
performance after halftime. After trailing by as many as 19 points in the
second half, Alabama made a furious rally, eventually cutting their deficit to
just three, 86-83, with eight seconds to play, but Ole Miss was able to hold
on for the victory.
The Rebels outscored the Crimson Tide from the free-throw line, 26-13. Alabama
dominated the boards, outrebounding Ole Miss, 41-25.
