Can you park in that valet zone?
There has been some confusion when it comes to using the valet zones around Playhouse Square.
Signs indicate they are open to the public until 4 p.m., however, some valets appear to be claiming spots sooner.
On many weekends, the only alternative to drivers during the day is to use paid parking lots. Some charge as much as $20.
“If our clients can’t come in here and park, how are we supposed to have any business?” asked Jimmy Sharaba of Bespoke Salon, which has heard complaints from customers.
“They come down and they can’t find parking,” said Anthony Storozuk, owner. “Or, they’re getting turned away in areas that they should be able to park.”
WKYC Channel 3 News reached out to both Playhouse Square and the City of Cleveland.
Playhouse claimed the valets have permits to use the zones as early as noon on some days, but admits the signage along Euclid may need updating.
A spokeswoman for the city said the city will make those updates, however, has yet to do so.
Drivers tell Channel 3 News the valet zones have caused confusion in the Warehouse District as well.
