A teenager from Grafton has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle while impaired following a car crash that killed his Midview High School prom date back in May.

Court records indicate 18-year-old Chase Elliot Johnson was released after posting bond. Johnson and 17-year-old Lindsey Mae Rotuno were driving home from their after-prom celebration on May 21 when Johnson drove into a grassy median on State Route 82 and struck two utility poles.

While Johnson was wearing a seatbelt during the 3 a.m. crash, Rotuno was not, and died at the scene. Toxicology reports later revealed Johnson had marijuana in his system at the time of the accident.
