High school football roundup: Stow gets big win, Twinsburg prevails in overtime
Stow-Munroe Falls (3-0) 17, Solon (2-1) 14
In what looked like a carbon copy of last year's 13-10 struggle, the Bulldogs blew a 10-0 halftime lead only to score the go-ahead touchdown to start the fourth quarter. The defense held from there, with the Comets picking up their first loss.
Canton McKinley (3-0) 39, Hudson (2-1) 27
This game really wasn't that close, as the Bulldogs raced out to a 32-0 lead before taking their foot off the gas. The big blow was a 78-yard touchdown pass from Alijah Curtis to Prayer Wise in the fourth quarter.
Avon (3-0) 31, Avon Lake (1-2) 6
The Eagles blew open a 7-6 first quarter lead with 25 second quarter points, exacting a measure of revenge on the Shoremen following last year's stunning playoff loss.
Twinsburg (2-1) 35, Aurora (0-3) 28 (OT)
This game went back and forth throughout, but two touchdown passes by Seth Grabowski paced the Tiger offense. After Aurora forced overtime, Twinsburg scored first then held defensively to keep the Greenmen winless.
Mentor (2-1) 38, Glenville (0-3)
The season is quickly turning into a disaster for Ted Ginn Sr.'s Tarblooders, who remain without a win. Tadas Tatarunas put on a show for the Cardinals with three touchdown passes, including two to Matt Hartman.
