After talking politics for about 90 percent of your trip to Ohio, you tend to need a "getaway."

Although today maybe the last day of the Republican National Convention, that’s not stopping delegates from exploring the Greater Akron area.

Throughout the week, many delegates made their way to the Greater Akron staple destinations like Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.

Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, completed in 1915, is the former home of the family of Frank “F.A.” Seiberling, co-founder of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.

Today the Portland, Oregon delegation took the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad into town.

Kevin Hoar, of the Oregon delegation said, “Their Ohio trip wouldn’t be complete without taking the train.”

The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is one of the oldest tourist excursion railways in the country.

The train travels northbound and southbound from Independence, Ohio through Akron, Ohio, with stops at smaller stations along the way.
