This story took social media by storm with people from both opposing and supporting sides weighing in.

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback has most recently gotten attention after single handedly igniting a string of NFL national anthem demonstrations.

Kaepernick first kneeled during the national anthem back in August 2016 in an effort to combat police brutality and racial inequality.

When the story broke of Kaepernick's recognition, many of you asked what did he do to deserve the honor.

One example is his $1 million pledge, that provides funding to organizations working in oppressed communities.

A man of few words, even declining to provide quotes for the GQ article, Kaepernick thanked GQ for the honor on twitter.

Moving back into the end zone.

This Sunday night touchdown celebration was extra special.

San Francisco 49ers receiver, Marquise Goodwin scored a 83-yard touchdown during Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

After scoring, Goodwin dropped to his knees and looked above.

The 49ers beat the Giants 31-21, in their first season win.

Following the game, Goodwin announced on social media that he and his wife, Megan Goodwin, had lost their son just hours ahead of the game.

Goodwin posted on Instagram thanking his followers for their prayers and support of he and his wife during the difficult time.

I just wanna thank those who’ve genuinely prayed for @morganakamomo & myself through out this pregnancy. Unfortunately we lost our baby boy due to some complications, and had to prematurely deliver him early this morning around 4am. Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan. The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable. Please Pray for the Goodwin family. πŸ’™πŸ‘£

I am keeping the Goodwin in my thoughts and sending them healing during this difficult time.

Off the field and on to the court.

The Cleveland Cavaliers made headlines Monday, by being your everyday 'New Yorker' and taking the subway.

The teams unorthodox approach to transportation wasn't the only thing unique about their trip to the Big Apple.

While in New York, Cavalier guard Iman Shumpert stopped by Hot 97 radio station and dropped a few bars.

Do you see a rap career in Iman's future? Should the Cavaliers be concerned? Or was this just a one time thing?

Only time will tell.

Moving on to someone else who's been known to switch things up lately.
