LOS ANGELES -- The Eagles are suing Hotel California.

Billboard reports The Eagles have filed a lawsuit against the owners of an establishment called Hotel California on the Baja Peninsula of Mexico.

The Eagles acknowledge in their complaint the hotel had the name in 1950, long before their song of that name came out in 1976, but they point out the hotel has changed names and ownership several times since then.

Their complaint also notes the hotel plays the Eagles song, sells T-shirts that refer to the hotel as "legendary" and targets their advertising to Americans by implying it's the inspiration for the song.

Attorneys for the hotel have not returned requests for comment.
