New Put-In-Bay branding aims to draw "weekday" crowds

With a new logo and marketing campaign, island officials hope to bring in more families and empty-nesters to the Bay

PUT-IN-BAY, Ohio — On Wednesday, Put-In-Bay's Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau unveiled a new marketing campaign and new branding for the island.

It hopes to entice more people to visit the Bay on weekdays.

Put-In-Bay Chamber Executive Director Wendy Chambers says the island's new brand, which has been months in the making, is now ready for the 2021 summer season. Chambers says although the Bay loves its weekend partiers, this summer’s campaign focuses on empty-nesters and folks looking for family-friendly fun.

"The outdoor activities are endless, so come out with your family and enjoy all those things. If you’re an empty-nester, you might be coming for the dining experience, maybe visit the wineries. Just that getaway, ya know? Get out of your every day. We call it 'An Every Day Island Getaway'," says Chambers.

Along with the endless activities on the island, the chamber is also welcoming people back to the Bay with a new logo with graphics, and new brand-specific messaging like “Mondays are definitely better on an island" and "We have the Saturdayest Weekdays" to encourage more weekday visits.

"We love our night life crowd, our bar crowd. We want everyone to know that we're also a family friendly island, and a place with plenty for empty-nesters and families to do during the week as well," says Chambers.

With COVID orders now lifted in Ohio after a year of pandemic living, Chambers says “an everyday island getaway” might just be what we all need.

"Go on the carousel, do the story walk. There's putt-putt and swimming and paddleboarding and kayaking - the dining experience and our wineries, the monument. There are so many opportunities for children and families," Chambers explains.

Put-In-Bay is now open for the season, which ends after Halloween weekend.
