Sorting out a busy day of Cleveland Browns rumors: The Donovan Live Postgame Show

Could Odell Beckham Jr. become a Cleveland Brown? Should we buy into rumors about the Browns preferring Josh Allen over Sam Darnold?

The Cleveland Browns are at the center of the NFL universe as we enter the final month before the draft. Owning the No. 1 and No. 4 picks will have that kind of effect. When you add the explosive element of quarterback into the mix, you have all the makings of a powder keg when it comes to rumors.

After a flurry of pro days and private workouts last week, Monday was the day for many of these rumblings to be made public. Our job on the Donovan Live Postgame Show was trying to sort through each of them.

First, there's the report that the New York Giants and wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. are at an impasse in contract negotiations. The 3-time Pro Bowler is preparing to hold out until he receives a new contract, while the Giants owner John Mara stated that no player on his team is 'untouchable' for a potential trade. That fueled speculation that the Browns could be among the teams vying for the services of Beckham. The Browns have no shortage of assets, plus the connections of WR Jarvis Landry and receivers coach Adam Henry have with Beckham dating back to LSU.

Adhering to league tampering rules, Browns GM John Dorsey stayed away from answering questions about Beckham at the NFL's owners meetings. However, this may be something to watch closely between now and the draft.

Dan Patrick decided to get in on the fun on his radio show on Monday. The NFL on NBC host heard from sources over the weekend that said as much as the Browns may be putting it out there that they like Sam Darnold of USC, they love Wyoming QB Josh Allen more. The idea would be for the Browns to make the Giants think they like Darnold so much that New York would be forced to trade up from 2 to 1 to get the guy they want.

"I think the Browns really like Josh Allen," said Patrick. "From my intel over the weekend, they love Allen. They've got Tyrod Taylor right now. And if they could get Josh Allen, get something from the Giants, and then also get Saquon Barkley, the Browns will be in great shape."

That's a lot on the table for a show. Jimmy and I sorted through all of this, plus why the NBA pendulum may be shifting in favor of the Cavaliers as we approach the start of the playoffs.
