CLEVELAND -- Cleveland has a new Bishop.
Pope Francis has named Bishop Nelson J. Perez as the 11th Bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland.
Bishop Perez was introduced in a news conference Tuesday morning.
Bishop Perez is currently the Auxiliary Bishop of Rockville Centre, New York, according to the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.
Late last year, Bishop Richard Lennon was granted early retirement due to ongoing health issues. In Bishop Lennon's absence, Pope Francis had temporarily appointed Reverend Daniel Edward Thomas as the Apostolic Administrator for Cleveland until a permanent replacement was selected.
