For its 24th year, Holiday Circlefest helped to kick off December festivities in Wade Oval.

The free event opened on Saturday and continues through Sunday.

Guests can shop at the outdoor Holiday Market, enjoy food and drinks from Table 45, and take a skate around the ice rink.

There is also a chance to have a photo taken with Santa inside a special igloo, ice carving demonstrations, live music and what's being called "the city's best gingerbread house competition."

More than a dozen of University Circle's renowned museums, galleries and other institutions will be open free of charge today from 1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

The celebration culminates with the Cleveland Museum of Art's Winter Light Lantern Procession, where hundreds of people with color-coordinated lanterns will make a dramatic show after the Wade Oval tree lighting.

The Cleveland Museum of Art has special exhibits as part of their Winter Lights Lantern Festival, where anyone can decorate their own lantern to be part of the procession, which will also feature illuminated dancers and giant puppets.

The Rink at Wade Oval is open to skaters from 1 p.m. - 7 p.m., weather permitting.
