About six months after the Lakemore Police Department marked their official return to the village, officers celebrated with dozens of families during their “Share a Christmas” program Saturday afternoon.
The police department returned in June after a nearly 8-year hiatus. The village teamed up with Springfield Township for policing services in 2009. Lakemore was placed in fiscal emergency in 2010 and was later released from the status in 2016.
Police Chief Kenny Ray said the department raised $10,000 to present about 70 kids with Christmas gifts at the Springfield Lake Roller Rink. Each child was asked to write down what they wanted for Christmas prior to the event.
Ray said volunteers helped to wrap the gifts, which included three televisions.
