Season's greetings! Cleveland ranks in the top 20 of the best places to celebrate Christmas in America

According to WalletHub, Cleveland ranks #17 in their 2020 survey of the 'Best Cities for Christmas.'

CLEVELAND — Editor's Note: The above story aired on December 11, 2020

I have a cup of cheer to share with my fellow Clevelanders: Your city is one of the best in the nation to celebrate Christmas.

Pandemic or not, there is no shortage of good places to go to enjoy this holiday season in Northeast Ohio. And there is also no shortage of generosity in our area.

In a survey just released on Tuesday by WalletHub, Cleveland finished high on its list of 2020's Best Cities for Christmas, coming in at No. 17.

How do you measure such a topic, you ask?

WalletHub compared the 100 most populated cities in the country on four 'key dimensions':

  • Safety
  • Traditions & Food
  • Observance
  • Generosity

Cleveland scored highest in the 'Observance' dimension, finishing No. 4 in the country. 'Observance' measures churches per capita and share of Christian population.

Here are your Top 10 best cities to celebrate Christmas:

  1. Durham, NC
  2. San Jose, CA
  3. Honolulu, HI
  4. Oakland, CA
  5. Raleigh, NC
  6. Pittsburgh, PA
  7. San Francisco, CA
  8. Portland, OR
  9. Plano, TX
  10. Seattle, WA

You can see how the rest of the Top 100 fared below:

Here's how the rest of Ohio's cities fared in the survey:

  • Cincinnati--#16
  • Columbus--#44
  • Toledo--#79

As I always say, if I couldn't be here in Cleveland to celebrate Christmas, please send me to Honolulu, checking in at No. 3 this year.

Mele Kalikimaka, friends!
