Abandoned dog found in Bay Village; will soon be available for adoption

The pit bull mix, called Neo by the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter, was found tied to a telephone pole with a note.

VALLEY VIEW, Ohio — A dog that was recently abandoned in Bay Village will soon be looking for a new 'furrever' home.

According to Bay Village Police Chief Robert Gillespie, an officer located a pit bull mix tied to a telephone pole near the 31300 block of Lake Road at around 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

There was a bag of belongings left at the scene, along with a note stating that the dog was two years old, well-trained, and has a good disposition. His name was not provided. The dog and its belongings were taken to the Bay Village kennel temporarily before being turned over to the Cuyahoga County Dog Warden on Wednesday.

The staff at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter has named the dog "Neo." Animal Shelter Administrator Mindy Naticchioni tells 3News that Neo is "very sweet," but a little nervous since arriving at the shelter. "We expect he will be more comfortable in a few days, and then move to our main adoption floor to find a new family. In the meantime, he had a lot of fun at playgroup today, made plenty of new friends, and is quickly winning the hearts of our staff and volunteers," she added.
