BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio — There is a new member of the Broadview Heights Police Department.

The city has a new K-9 officer, and he is officially on duty with his handler, Officer Giles.

Back in February, the department announced the dog's upcoming arrival on their Facebook page. They asked residents to name him, and after all the votes were in, they decided to call him Chase.

Chase came to the police department from Excel K9 in Hiram. He recently completed his six weeks of training. where he learned things like obedience, narcotics detection, and building and area searches.

"Chase and Ptl. Giles both successfully passed the certifications for both the State of Ohio and the North American Police Work Dog Association," the department wrote on its Facebook page. "Look for him out and about the city helping keep everyone safe."

Good luck, buddy!
