CLEVELAND -- LeBron James wasn't the only the only person to take his talents from Northeast Ohio to Los Angeles over the summer.
In addition to their starting small forward and franchise player, the Cleveland Cavaliers lost Fox Sports Ohio sideline reporter Allie Clifton to Spectrum SportsNet, where she is now the pregame host for James' Lakers. Clifton's departure left an opening at FSO, which the station filled on Tuesday when it announced the hiring of Angel Gray as the new sideline reporter for Cavs telecasts.
Gray arrives in Cleveland from the same Spectrum SportsNet Clifton is joining, where she served as the play-by-play announcer for the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks. Her previous experience includes stints as the sideline reporter for the WNBA's Atlanta Dream with Fox Sports Southeast and as a women's college basketball analyst and commentator with ESPN.
A native of Georgia, Gray is a 2010 graduate of Florida State. She will make her debut with Fox Sports Ohio during the Cavs' season opener vs. the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.
In addition to Gray, the Cavs and Fox Sports Ohio announced the hiring of Cayleigh Griffin as a feature reporter and digital host. According to a press release, Griffin "will be the lead presence for FOX Sports Ohio’s social and digital media efforts, focusing on creating feature segments and live stream content delivery" and "a regular contributor on CAVS HQ and FSO’s “In the Paint,” and will produce content for Cavaliers Live, the pregame and postgame show on FOX Sports Ohio." She will also create insider segments for the team's social media platforms and will periodically host and moderate special organization events.
Prior to joining the Cavs, Griffin covered the San Antonio Spurs for FOX Sports Southwest, spurs.com and the team's social media platforms. She also co-hosted Spurs Live pregame and postgame shows and worked as a sideline reporter during the team's home games.
Griffin is a 2014 graduate of Providence College and a native of Stamford, Conn.
