U.S. Marshals arrest known gang member on Cleveland's west side

CLEVELAND — A known Cleveland gang member wanted for his role in a July 16 shooting in Richmond Heights was arrested by US Marshals late Wednesday morning.

Andre Phillips, 25, was arrested by members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at an apartment complex in the 3600 block of Bosworth Road near West 117th Street. 

Phillips and the shooting victim were in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 400 block of Richmond park West near Highland Road when Phillips shot the victim several times, police report. The victim survived his injuries and was able to identify Phillips as the shooter. 

The Richmond Height Police Department issued a warrant for Phillips arrest late last month and received numerous tips that ultimately lead to his arrest.  

"The members of our communities here in Northern Ohio should feel safe in their neighborhoods, day in and day out our officers work hard maintain a safe community and arrests of individuals such as this relate directly to the protection of our streets,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.
