Cleveland homicide: 21-year-old male dies after suffering gunshot wound to chest

According to a preliminary investigation by the Homicide Unit, they revealed that the victim was likely shot at close range with a 12 gauge shotgun.

CLEVELAND — A Cleveland man is dead after being shot in the chest Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 4:55 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, officers responded to the 3600 block of East 124th Street for reports of "unknown trouble".

Upon arrival to the scene, officers found a 21-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Cleveland Fire and EMS attempted to provide life-saving aid to the victim, but he was pronounced dead shortly after.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Homicide Unit, it was revealed that the victim was likely shot at close range with a 12 gauge shotgun.

Cleveland police also say that the incident may have been connected to a theft that occurred earlier in the day, but the two incidents haven't been confirmed to be related to each other.

No arrests have been made and Cleveland police did not indicate whether a suspect is known at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
