TWINSBURG, Ohio — On Tuesday, the Twinsburg Police Department provided some new information about a 38-year cold case.

According to the department's Facebook post, an unidentified man's body was found inside a garbage bag on February 18, 1982. Police say the exact cause of death is unknown, however there is evidence of blunt force trauma, stabbing and post-mordem fire.

There is also the belief that the victim suffered from Kyphosis, a forward curvature of the spine and may have had a noticably slouched posture. He was believed to be between 20-35 years old with a heigh between 5'3" and 5'7".

38 years to the day that the victim's body was found, forensic evidence indicates that the victim, or one or more of his close ancestors, is likely from Laurens County, South Carolina.

The Twinsburg Police Department received assistance from the DNA Doe Project and forensic genealogy in making this determination. You can learn more about the DNA Doe Project by clicking here.

If you have any information about the victim’s possible identity, please contact Detective Hendershott at 330-405-5679.
