Pedestrian dies in hit-and-run crash in Richmond Heights: Police ask for public's help finding suspected driver

Police say the pedestrian was struck late Tuesday night on Highland near Trebisky.

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio — A man is dead following a hit-and-run incident in Richmond Heights, and police are asking for the public’s help in finding the suspected driver.

The Richmond Heights Police Department says it was just after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when the man was struck by the vehicle on Highland near Trebisky. 

Police tell 3News the victim has been identified as 32-year-old Dawit Bekele.

“Car parts left behind indicate that this vehicle is a 2008-2012 Chevy Malibu and there is damage to the left front end,” police posted on Facebook. “We do not know the color of the vehicle and are posting these pictures as an example of the kind of car we are searching for.”

The police department noted that while they’re investigating leads, they’re asking anybody with information to call 216-486-1234 or their detective bureau at 216-383-6309.
