New CycleBar in Hudson mixes fitness & fun

CycleBar has opened a new location in Northeast Ohio, and it's offering FREE classes until Wednesday!

If your New Year's resolution was to get in shape but you hate the gym, there may be a new alternative for you in Hudson.

CycleBar opened earlier this month, and it offers indoor cycling that's a little different than your typical stationary bike or Spinning class.

In fact, they call their workouts an "unparalleled multi-sensory, intoxicating journey."

"Everything you experience at a rock concert, you'll experience in here," says franchise owner John Wood.

The true centerpiece of the facility is what they call the CycleTheatre, a tiered space holding 48 bikes, 2 large flat screen TVs, personal data monitors, and audio and lighting equipment used to create a party-like atmosphere.

Instructor Taylor Chimes leads an early morning Sunday class in the steamy CycleTheatre at CycleBar's new location in Hudson.

The hope is that riders will have fun while getting fit.

"In a lot of classes, you just ride, but here, it's about keeping in rhythm with the music," said client Sara Calderon, of Hudson. "I work out all the time, but it's still a challenge."

Fear not, though. Wood says it's a low-impact workout that should be accessible for bike riders 12 years old and up and riders of all different fitness levels.

"You'll get a great workout, but not walk out of here with a sore back or sore joints," says Wood. "We tell riders it's their ride. Our instructors will make sure it works whether you're looking to burn up to 1000 calories or it's your first time here."

As part of the location's grand opening, they are offering FREE classes through Wednesday, January 24.
