Akron firefighter charged for shooting man during argument

The man tried to throw a brick at the firefighter, who then fired one shot.

AKRON -- An Akron firefighter is facing assault charges for shooting another man.

According to Akron Police, 31-year-old Enrique Green was turned into the Akron Police station with his attorney Friday morning.

Police say Green was visiting a woman last Friday around 4 a.m. at the 700 block of McKinley Avenue when the woman's ex-boyfriend showed up. The two men began to argue and the ex-boyfriend attempted to throw a brick at Green. Green fired one shot at the man, striking him on the shoulder.

The man drove himself to Akron City Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Green, who has a concealed carry permit, has worked for the city of Akron Fire Department for more than six years. He's currently on paid administrative leave.

Green is scheduled for an arraignment hearing Saturday.
