AKRON -- An Akron man was indicted Wednesday on a handful of charges after he shot at a trio of police officers and attempted to steal two cars.
Michael P. Johnson, 34, is accused of shooting at officers on Jan. 2. He also had 50 grams of methamphetamine on him.
Later that day, Johnson brandished a gun while attempting to steal a 2009 Kia Sportage and a 2002 Toyota Camry.
Johnson is facing one count of assault on law enforcement officers with a deadly weapon, two counts of discharging a firearm during a violent crime, one count of brandishing a firearm during a violent crime, two counts of attempted carjacking and two counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Johnson faces a mandatory minimum 65 years behind bars, according to Akron Police Chief Ken Ball in a news release.
