An Akron man has not been charged after shooting his daughter, who he mistook as a home intruder overnight Wednesday.

Police say the man shot his 22-year-old daughter inside his Goodyear Heights home around 1 a.m.

The father said he yelled out to see who was in his kitchen. When he didn't receive a response, he spotted a shadow and fired a shot.

The daughter was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She's expected to recover. Her father told police he thought she was house-sitting elsewhere.

No charges have been filed, but the incident remains under investigation.
