Helen Arnold Community Learning Center in Akron held a balloon launch to honor Daisia Huggins, one of the victims killed in one of Akron's deadliest fires.
Huggins was a kindergartner at the Akron school.
Principal LaMonica Davis lead the balloon launch Friday afternoon as Huggins' best friends presented the family with gifts before letting go of dozens of pink balloons.
Huggins, along with four of her siblings and their two parents, was killed Monday in a fire at the family's Fultz Street home.
"This whole thing was really special to put together for Daisia," said Brittany Boggs. "She loved school, she loved her friends."
A pair of GoFundMe pages created to cover funeral expenses and help the family’s oldest children, Tyennis Huggins and Brittany Boggs, have raised around $68,000 to go toward funeral expenses.
Investigators have not yet determined a cause for the fire, though sources tell WKYC leftover charcoal from a barbecue may have been to blame.
Officials also say arson has not been ruled out.
On Thursday, authorities were seen bagging evidence amid a search warrant execution at two Hillcrest Street homes near the scene of the fire. Police confirmed the searches were in connection to the deadly fire, but did not provide any suspects or additional information.
