Former Akron Police Chief James Nice pleaded not guilty Tuesday after being charged with attempted unauthorized use of property.
The misdemeanor charge came after an months-long investigation, and stems from Nice's alleged use of his department's automated data base system for personal use.
Nice, who had been Akron's police chief for six years, resigned last year amid allegations of misconduct and racial slurs first reported by WKYC.
