The 2016 presidential election was historic and the aftermath remains prevalent.
As both celebrations and protests continue over Donald Trump's victory, one University of Akron professor has decided to turn the election into a teaching opportunity.
Professor Matthew Akers, director of government relations, has created a course called "Trump's Triumph."
The course will focus on president-elect Trump and his success in the 2016 election, according to a news release issued by the university.
Akers said the course, worth three credit hours, will examine many of the unanswered questions that remain following the election, as well as how Trump was able to generate a support base, his beliefs and principals, and how the campaign polls ended up being wrong.
The course is considered a special topics course under the university's Department of Political Science, but is open to all undergraduate and graduate students. Enrollment is open for the Spring 2017 semester.
