Cleveland Police say they responded to 3578 W 120th Street at about 2:45 p.m. Saturday for a report of an 8-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the upper left shoulder. He was taken to Fairview Hospital in stable condition.

Police say the preliminary investigation reveals that an eight-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy were playing together at the home and the eight-year-old received a gunshot wound to the shoulder. During their investigation, police could be seen looking at the home's porch where blood and a bloody shirt were found.

Police say it appears that the boys found the gun and were playing with it.

The victim's uncle lives in the house with his fiance and their children. The eight-year-old had come over for the day to play.

"We don't do guns in our house," the boy's uncle told us. "We never have guns. I can't even imagine where this gun came from. That was kind of shocking to me."

The man, who didn't want to be identified, told us he and his fiance were at work when the incident happened but there were other adults in the home.

It's unclear exactly where the shooting took place. The victim's uncle says investigators found what appears to be a bullet hole in an upstairs bedroom.

An adult may be cited for failure to secure a weapon, according to police.
