Police say a 4-year-old boy has died following a multiple-vehicle crash on Market Ave. North and 39th St. NE in Canton.
The accident occurred Tuesday at 5:34 p.m. when three vehicles collided with each other. A 2013 Ford Escape containing a Massillon mother and her two young children was struck twice.
While the mother and her 2-year-old daughter were treated for minor injuries at Mercy Medical Center, her 4-year-old son was airlifted to Akron Children's Hospital with serious injuries. The Summit County Coroner's Office later confirmed to the Canton Police Department that the child had passed away Wednesday.
The driver of a 2003 Ford F150, a Canton man, was also transported to Mercy Medical and treated for minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
