FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Portage County Sheriff David W. Doak confirmed that there's an investigation into a homicide that happened at 12:43 a.m. today.
The sheriff's office said deputies were called at a multi-family residence at 11:30 p.m. Friday at 7 at 7263 state Route 43 for a large party.
Deputies talked with several residents who were hosting the party and asked them to quiet down. At that moment, a gunshot was heard from inside one of the residences.
People attending the party began to run out of the multi-family residence and deputies found Jayquon Devione Tillman, 18, of Cleveland had been shot.
He was taken to University Hospitals in Portage County where he was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies learned that Kalin Cheyenne Lee, 20, of Columbus had been shot as well and she was treated and released from Akron City Hospital.
Deputies said multiple local law enforcement agencies responded to assist the Portage County Sheriff’s Office in crowd control and in securing the scene.
Doak's office also said the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene to assist.
