A 12-year-old girl was shot in the foot while riding her bike on Cleveland's east side Monday night.

Police say they responded to the 9800 and 10000 block of Kempton Avenue, where witnesses reported seeing the occupants of two red vehicles firing shots at one another.

A 12-year-old girl was riding her bicycle when the vehicles came down the straight and the victim was struck by a bullet in her left foot. The girl's grandfather, who was sitting on the front porch, applied first aid to her until EMS arrived. The girl was taken to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.

Police believe the intended target of the shooting may have been a resident of a home at the 9800 block of Kempton, where a home was struck by bullets.

Police have no suspects at this time and an condition on the victim has not been provided.
